Aaron Kurcz Added to Eastern League All-Star Roster

Portland, Maine- The Eastern League in conjunction with Reading Phillies have announced that Portland Sea Dogs right-handed reliever Aaron Kurcz has been added to the Eastern League All-Star Game roster. Kurcz will take the roster spot of Sea Dogs' left-handed pitcher Chris Hernandez who is unable to pitch in the game. Kurcz will join Sea Dogs' teammates Bryce Brentz and Reynaldo Rodriguez at the All-Star Game in Reading, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, July 11th at 7:05 PM.

Kurcz has made 25 appearances for the Sea Dogs this season posting a 3-4 record with four saves and a 3.64 ERA. In 42 innings pitched he has recorded a team high 60 strikeouts. Kurcz has the highest strikeout per nine innings ratio (12.86) amongst Eastern League relievers.

The 21 year-old was received from the Chicago Cubs as part of the Theo Epstein compensation package. Last season he earned Florida State League All-Star honors pitching for Single-A Dayton notching a 5-4 record and a 3.28 ERA with 91 strikeouts.
