(Trenton, NJ) - New Britain sent ten batters to the plate and scored five two-out runs against Dellin Betances in the fifth inning en route to a 6-1 win over the Trenton Thunder in front of 3,976 fans at Waterfront Park. All-Star B.J. Hermsen tossed seven strong innings for the Rock Cats, who have taken the first two games of the series and five of six from the Thunder in the last two weeks.

Betances (0-1) cruised through four innings, allowing only one run on two hits but trailed 1-0 entering the fifth. A one-out error by shortstop Addison Maruszak opened the door for New Britain, who received two-out RBI hits from Chris Herrmann, Oswaldo Arcia and Deibinson Romero. All five runs in the fifth were unearned against Betances, who struck out nine in six innings and walked three.

Hermsen (5-4) worked out of trouble early then settled into a groove towards the end of his outing, allowing only two runners after the third. He struck out five and walked two, allowing only five hits and one unearned run.

Neil Medchill doubled and later drove in the Thunder's lone run in the seventh with a groundout. David Adams collected half of Trenton's six hits.

The Thunder and Rock Cats conclude the three-game series Friday night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm, as Trenton tries to avoid being swept for the first time all season.
