New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Toronto Blue Jays, parent club of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, announced today they have selected the contract of Fisher Cats pitcher Sam Dyson. When Dyson makes his debut, he will become the 56th player to debut in the major leagues after having played for the Fisher Cats, including the fourth this year.

Dyson, 24, made his professional debut this spring at High-A Dunedin as a starter, and had a 2-0 record and 4.08 ERA in six starts. He made his debut with New Hampshire on May 12 and appeared in 15 games, all out of the bullpen, accumulating a 0.75 ERA over 24.0 innings. Despite beginning the season in Dunedin, Dyson was named to the Eastern League All-Star Team as part of the fan vote. The Tampa, Fla. native was Toronto's fourth-round pick in the 2010 draft, and becomes the first Blue Jays player from that draft to reach the major leagues. He missed all of the 2011 season following Tommy John surgery.

Dyson joins pitchers Evan Crawford and Drew Hutchison, and catcher/infielder Yan Gomes as former Fisher Cats to make their major league debuts this season.

In a corresponding roster move, outfielder Jake Marisnick has been transferred from Dunedin to New Hampshire. Marisnick, 21, is the third-rated prospect in the Blue Jays system, according to Baseball America. The third-round pick in the 2009 draft out of Riverside Poly (CA) High School, was batting .263 with 6 home runs and 35 RBI in 65 games with the D-Jays.

The Fisher Cats play game two of a three-game series with the Future Red Sox, the Portland Sea Dogs (Double-A Boston Red Sox) tonight at 7:05 PM. After the game, there will be spectacular Atlas Fireworks. The homestand continues through Monday with Atlas Fireworks tonight through Sunday. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Northeast Delta Dental Stadium box office, by calling (603)641-2005, or online at www.nhfishercats.com.
