San Antonio - The San Antonio Missions defeated the NW Arkansas Naturals 4-2 Wednesday in front of a sellout crowd at The Wolff Wednesday evening. In the process, San Antonio continued their season-high winning streak which is now at 10 games.

The Naturals struck first on a Brian Fletcher solo homer to left in the opening inning off San Antonio starter Andrew Werner. Nate Freiman pulled the Missions even in the bottom of the frame with a homer of his own, his 17th of the season.

NW Arkansas re-gained the lead in the fourth as Fletcher scored on RBI groundout from Mario Lisson. San Antonio had a chance to tie it up again but left fielder Edinson Rincon was gunned down at the plate in the fifth after shortstop Jeudy Valdez had lined a single to center.

The Missions were able to tie it up an inning later as Freiman's double down the left field line plated Jonathan Galvez, who also doubled, to make it 2-2.

In the seventh, Galvez came up with the bases loaded and he promptly singled to right to bring home Rincon and catcher Ali Solis to give San Antonio a 4-2 advantage.

Werner allowed just four hits and two runs in six innings with two walks and six strikeouts but did not factor in the decision.

The Missions will embark on a seven-game, six-day road trip starting tomorrow with four at Tulsa through Saturday, July 7 before playing three games at NW Arkansas from Sunday, July 8 to Tuesday, July 10. After a league-wide off-day on July 11, San Antonio will return home for four games with the Midland RockHounds from July 12-15.

You can catch all the Missions action on KKYX 680 AM, the home of Missions baseball with Roy Acuff and Mike Saeger.
