Frisco RoughRiders News Release
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR-Cody Buckel (1-2) won his first Double-A game, and the RoughRiders offense provided plenty of fireworks as the team defeated Arkansas 8-0 on Independence Day at Dickey-Stephens Park. It was the 'Riders first series win since a four-game set against San Antonio (June 6-9)
Frisco got off to a quick start in the top of the first. Leury Garcia gave the visitors their first baserunner with an infield single off Travs starter Johnny Hellweg (3-8). Garcia would later steal second, and score on an RBI single by Chris McGuiness to center.
In the third the 'Riders first baseman would come through a second time. After earning a lead-off walk, McGuiness would score on a single by Jared Hoying that was misplayed by Travs rightfielder Roberto Lopez. Later in the frame Jared Prince tacked on an RBI single, to make it 3-0 Frisco.
Back at work in the fifth, McGuiness capitalized with a runner at first and two outs. Facing Hellweg, McGuiness cranked a two-run homer over the rightfield wall to give Frisco a five run cushion. It was C-Mac's 17th home run of the season, and his ninth since June 10.
Zach Zaneski added to the 'Riders lead in the eighth, recording a two-RBI double off Travs reliever Andrew Taylor, while Jared Hoying added the club's eighth run on a sacrifice fly in the ninth.
Cody Buckel earned his first Double-A win, tossing six shutout innings and giving up only one hit. He walked three, struck out four, and did not allow a hit until the fifth inning. Johnny Hellweg suffered the loss for Arkansas, giving up five runs (four earned) over six frames. He walked two, struck out five, and hit two batters.

Nick Tepesch (1-1, 5.40) gets the start for the RoughRiders, he will be opposed by the Cards righty Scott McGregor (1-0, 9.00) First pitch is slated for 7:00, and can be heard on KKGM 1630 AM or on ridersbaseball.com. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:30.
