Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release
Wisconsin Rapids, WI- July 3rd, 2012. Yesterday, the Rafters pitching staff added a new arm, fresh off a College World Series Champion Arizona Wildcat team, in left-handed pitcher Augey Bill. Today, the Rafters made another acquisition that will bolster the rotation even more. The Rafters announced this afternoon that they have been awarded the waiver claim on former La Crosse Loggers temporary contract pitcher, Bo Henning (Sacramento CC). The team signed him to a full contract for the remainder of the season earlier today.
Henning has been one of the most consistent starting pitchers on a first-place Loggers team and in the entire Northwoods League this season. The right-hander has posted a 3-1 record through six games (five starts) and currently ranks 14th in the league with a 2.96 ERA. In 27.1 innings he has struck out 20 batters against only 12 walks. Henning will join the team today prior to the home game against the Madison Mallards at 7:05 pm.
Henning was placed on waivers by La Crosse on Saturday, the final day temporary contract players are eligible to be on an active Northwoods League roster. Temporary contract players must be either signed to a full contract if the team has a roster spot available (which La Crosse did not) or that team must place the player on waivers. All teams in the league are able to place a claim on players exposed to waivers if they have a roster spot available and with two temporary contracts expiring in Michael Jurgella and Shane Adler, the Rafters were able to claim Henning to shore up the pitching staff.
