Paxton Reinstated from Disabled List, Starts Tonight

JACKSON, TENN. (JULY 3, 2012) - The Seattle Mariners have made the following roster move that effects the Jackson Generals roster. LHP James Paxton has been activated from the disabled list today and will start tonight against Montgomery in the series finale. To make room for Paxton, RHP Jandy Sena has been promoted to Triple-A Tacoma.

PAXTON, 23, was placed on the DL on May 26th with a sore right knee. Paxton was the Southern League Pitcher of the Week for the first week of the 2012 season. This season, Paxton is 3-3, with a 3.88 ERA in 10 starts, covering 46.1 innings pitched. The lefty has struck out 52 and walked 32 this season. Paxton ranks as the 4th best prospect in the Mariners organization, according to Baseball America. He ranks as the 8th best left-handed pitching prospect and 77th overall prospect in baseball, according to MLB.com. Paxton was the Mariners 4th round selection in the 2010 draft out of Kentucky. Paxton is from Ladner, British Columbia, Canada.

SENA, 22, returns to Triple-A Tacoma where he has made one start this season (0-0, 5.40 ERA). Sena has made 18 appearances, including 1 start with the Generals going 1-1, with a 3.68 ERA. The 6'6" righty from Miami, FL was the Mariners 23rd round draft choice in 2010.
