
'Riders Claim Fourth Series against Misions

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS-Frisco claimed its fourth straight series win over San Antonio, defeating the Missions 5-2 Friday night at Wolff Municipal Stadium. With the "ËRiders win, and a Midland loss, Steve Buechele's club is now seven games away from clinching a first-half South Division title.
The visitors led off the scoring in the third, tagging Missions starter Andrew Werner (1-7) for three runs. With two outs, Leury Garcia tripled to center past Reymond Fuentes, and scored on an RBI single by Jurickson Profar. An error by Edinson Rincon allowed Mike Olt to reach, while a double steal put runners at second and third. One batter later, Alex Buchholz plated both on a single to left.
San Antonio trimmed the deficit to a run in the bottom of the fourth. Cleanup batter Nate Freiman walked, and advanced to third on back-to-back singles by Edinson Rincon and Jason Hagerty. Working with the bases loaded, Jake Brigham (3-2) then walked Rincon to give San Antonio its first run of the game. TJ Steele added a run later in the inning on a fielder's choice.
In the sixth, the "ËRiders battled back to make it 4-2. Zach Zaneski led off with a triple, and scored on a base hit by Jared Prince, while the "ËRiders right fielder tacked on a homer in the eighth to close out the scoring.
Jake Brigham picked up his first win since April 30, tossing six innings of two-run ball. He scattered four hits and struck out eight. Andrew Werner suffered the loss, allowing three runs (one earned) over four frames. Ross Wolf nailed down his second save of the series, pitching a scoreless ninth.
Frisco wraps up its four-game affair against San Antonio Saturday night at Wolff Stadium. The "ËRiders trot out southpaw Tim Murphy (2-6, 6.08), he will be opposed by Missions right-hander Hayden Beard (3-4, 7.74). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05, and can be heard on KKGM 1630 AM or on ridersbaseball.com. Pre-game coverage starts at 6:30.
