Tucson Padres News Release
The Tucson Padres sent 12 batters to the plate in the fourth inning, scoring nine times in their 9-5 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox Tuesday. The rally included a three-run home run by Yasmani Grandal and a grand slam by Jedd Gyorko. It was the most runs the Padres have had in one inning this season. Gyorko's grand slam was Tucson's second this season (Alexi Amarista hit the other) and capped off a great series for the infielder. Gyorko went 9-for-16 with nine RBIs in four games.
Tucson's Colt Hynes fell behind 4-0 in the game but survived through the fifth inning and picked up his second win. Hynes allowed three earned runs in five innings of work. Colorado Springs scored once in the seventh inning and put runners at second and third with two outs but Cory Burns came in and got pinch hitter Jimmy Cesario to fly to left, ending the threat. After Burns retired all four hitters he saw, Erik Hamren pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, striking out two in the process.
The Padres have now won two games in a row and split the four game series in Colorado Springs. Sky Sox pitchers walked five hitters Tuesday and all five eventually scored.
Next Game: Thursday, June 7 vs. Reno (Diamondbacks affiliate) at 7:05 pm. Budweiser Thirsty Thursday. Game coverage begins at 6:50 pm on Tejano 1600 AM.
