Magill Named Southern League Pitcher of the Week

May 29, 2012 - Southern League (SL) Chattanooga Lookouts

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Southern League has announced that Lookouts starting pitcher Matt Magill has been selected as the league's Pitcher of the Week for his performance last week.

Magill made one start last week and had a dominant pitching performance against the Jacksonville Suns. In seven shutout innings of work, he yielded just two hits, while notching 10 strikeouts and not issuing a single walk in the win.

This marks the second time in which Magill has been selected as the Southern League Pitcher of the Week, as he previously received the honor for his performance during the week of April 23-29.

A 31st round selection in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft, Magill is 4-2 on the season with a 3.19 ERA in nine starts. He is currently tenth in the Southern League in ERA, fourth in batting average against (.190), and tied for second in strikeouts with 60.

The Lookouts are currently on the road against the Birmingham Barons but will return home next Saturday to play a five-game homestand against the Jackson Generals. Tickets for these games or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
