Samson Rejoins Smokies Tuesday

KODAK, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, Double-A minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, announced this afternoon that INF Nate Samson will rejoin the team in advance of tonight's game with the Huntsville Stars. Additionally, LHP Casey Harman has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to May 25. Both moves are immediate, with Samson being available for tonight's 7:15 game at Smokies Park

The Smokies active roster is set at 24 players.

Samson, 24, comes back to the Smokies where he began the 2012 campaign. He held a .272 batting average (29 H/92 AB) with nine doubles, one home run and six RBIs before being called up to Triple-A Iowa on May 17. In nine games with the I-Cubs, Samson had a .174 batting average (4 H/ 23 AB). He was selected by the Cubs in the 34th round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.

Harman, 23, owns a .420 ERA (7 ER/15.0 IP) with a 0-1 record in eight relief appearances for the Smokies in 2012. The Fort Myers, Fla. native was drafted by the Cubs in the 29th round of the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
