Mets to Promote Schwinden, Quintanilla from Bisons

The New York Mets today announced the team will recall Bisons RHP CHRIS SCHWINDEN and select the contract of Buffalo's INF OMAR QUINTANILLA prior to their game tonight.

With the roster space, INF SEAN KAZMAR has been promoted from Double-A Binghamton and RHP JEFF STEVENS has been activated off the Bisons disabled list.

Kazmar, 27, hit .236 with one homer and nine runs batted in over the course of 25 games with Binghamton. In 2011 with Triple-A Tacoma, Kazmar hit .253 with three home runs and 45RBI. In 2010 with Triple- A Portland, the infielder hit .275 with eight home runs and 53RBI.

Stevens was placed in the disabled list on May 21 with a groin strain and missed seven games. In 15 games with the Bisons this season, he is 0-1 with a 2.81ERA (16.0IP, 13K).

Schwinden went 3-4 with a 2.59ERA (48.2IP, 41K) in nine starts for the Bisons this season. He currently leads Buffalo starters in ERA and is tied for third in wins. Schwinden was also promoted to the Mets, April 26 - May 6, and went 0-1 with an 11.25ERA in 8.0 innings of work.

Quintanilla was hitting .282 with six home runs and 27RBI in 48 games as the Bisons starting shortstop. His homer and RBI totals were second on the team and he led the Herd with 11 doubles. Quintanilla has not yet appeared with New York this season.
