Three More Added to Lions Secondary

(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club announced this morning that import defensive backs Troy Butler, Sam Pope and Josh Bell have been signed by the team.

Bell brings some NFL experience to Lions training camp after the Baylor grad signed as an undrafted free agent with the San Diego Chargers in 2008. Following his release prior to the start of the season, he was signed by the Denver Broncos and placed on the practice roster before eventually seeing action in nine games where he racked up 34 tackles. After being released by the Broncos in 2009, Josh signed with the Green Bay Packers and spent the 2010 season on their injured reserve list.

Following an 18-game, two-year career at Hampton University which ended in 2009, Pope had NFL tryouts in Green Bay and Buffalo as well as a stint in the UFL with the Florida Tuskers. In 2010, he was signed by the Montreal Alouettes, but was released in training camp. He was most recently a member of the Spokane Shock of the AFL.

Butler played 20 games over two years (2009-'10) at Kansas State University and notched 64 career tackles.
