Altoona Curve News Release
CURVE, Pa. - The 2012 presidential election is a mere 171 days away, and the pomp, circumstance, and excitement of the biggest event in politics is coming to Curve, Pa. Beginning on Saturday, the Curve will dive into the madness of 2012's biggest decision with the first in a season-long campaign to elect the next Commander of Mischief in Altoona. On the penultimate day of the season, Curve fans will vote for their favorites with a chance to win a loaded prize pack including tickets to a 2013 Pirates game at PNC Park, a day in a suite at Peoples Natural Gas Field in 2013 and much more.
The first 1,000 fans through the gates at Peoples Natural Gas Field on Saturday will take the first step toward earning their Curve, Pa. voting license when they receive the first of four mascot-themed campaign buttons. Saturday, the first candidate presented to the people of Altoona will be Tenacious. Altoona's favorite engineer steps into the spotlight with his bold slogan for this year, "Vote Ten in '12."
On June 25, it's Diesel Dawg's turn. The chief canine of baseball in Central Pennsylvania seeks the next step in his career behind the phrase, "I Dig the Dawg" with another 1,000 fans in attendance receiving his material. Following Diesel, the longtime figurehead of the Curve's political base, Steamer, issues his own likeness to fans on July 21.
Throughout the year, all four Curve mascot candidates will be given their own equal time to pledge their stances on the most pressing issues to the citizens of Curve, Pa. Everything from mudslinging attack ads concerning Steamer's penchant for slinging popcorn in the stands to Al Tuna's connections with Hollywood elites based on his appearances in blockbuster films during ninth-inning Curve rally videos is in play.
The Curve, Pa. election cycle comes to its dramatic conclusion on the second-to-last home date of the season with upstart challenger Al Tuna's button giveaway on August 29. Curve fans that have collected all three previous buttons must bring them back to the ballpark on that date as proof of their Curve, Pa. voting registration to take part in the club's first Commander of Mischief election. Upon receiving their Al button, fans with all four giveaways may vote. After votes have been tabulated, those Curve fans who voted for the winning candidate will be entered to win a prize pack of presidential proportions.
The winning voter will receive a diverse package of mascot apparel for their chosen victorious candidate as well as an appearance by that mascot at their home to watch the thrilling results of the 2012 presidential election on November 6. In addition to the political benefits of the prize package, the spoils of victory furthermore include a trip for four to a Pirates vs. Washington Nationals game at PNC Park in Pittsburgh in 2013, a VIP parking pass for games at Peoples Natural Gas Field next season, and a 2013 game in the suite that once hosted both former Vice President Dick Cheney and former President Jimmy Carter at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
