MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact U21 team plays its second game of the season on Sunday, taking on the St. Catharines Roma Wolves at 2pm ET, at the Centre Sportif et Culturel Saint-Jean-Vianney, in RDP. The game is open to the general public and admittance is free of charge.
"The disappointment from last Sunday's game is that we did not play within our system," said Impact U21 head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. "We did some things well, but we did not establish our identity on the field. However, playing last week helped us because we now know what level to expect from our opponents. It will be important to score an early goal against the Wolves, which will give us confidence over the 90 minutes."
Last Sunday, the U21s played the York Regions Shooters in its Canadian Soccer League season opener to a scoreless draw at Saint-Jean-Vianney in a physical game, despite injuries to a number of key players to start the season.
However, the home team can count on the return of forward Mircea Ilcu, who will be dressed for Sunday's matchup, after making his return to practice this week. Impact U18 goalkeeper Jason Beaulieu is expected to get a second straight start after a solid outing last Sunday.
Also on Sunday, the U18 squad will face off against St. Leonard FC (LPSQ), at Stade Hebert in St. Leonard, at 2 pm ET.
