Real Salt Lake News Release
SANDY, Utah (Thursday, May 17, 2012) - League-leading Real Salt Lake (8-3-2, 26 pts.; West #1), as part of its 13-day layoff from MLS action, will head south to Provo for an exhibition match against the Brigham Young University Cougars on Saturday, May 19, 2012. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. MT at South Stadium on the BYU campus.
"We're very excited to be playing down in Provo this weekend. We look forward to a great game against BYU, and we look forward to playing in front of the great fans in Provo as we work to build the RSL audience all over the state of Utah," stated RSL General Manager Garth Lagerwey.
The last match-up between RSL and BYU on October 2, 2009, resulted in a Claret-and-Cobalt victory of 3-1 on the Cougars' turf, and occurred nearly a month and a half before RSL captured the MLS Cup 2009 title. BYU has not lost a game yet in their early pre-season, and the Cougars do not have a single player in their lineup that has squared off with RSL before.
"We are excited and grateful to have RSL on our schedule and in our stadium. Their organization is the class of Major League Soccer and we can learn a great deal from them," said BYU Head Coach Chris Watkins.
Tickets are $10 for adults and children and $12 for reserve seating. No student discount is available and the BYU Seven Peaks Pass-of All-Passes will not be accepted for this match. Tickets are available now and can be purchased in advance by visiting www.byutickets.com or at South Stadium on game day.
