Hal McCoy to Appear on Dragons TV Saturday

DAYTON, OHIO-Hal McCoy, a member of the National Baseball Hall-of-Fame in Cooperstown, New York, will serve as guest commentator on the Dayton Dragons game telecast on Saturday, May 19 at Fifth Third Field. The game will be seen on WHIO Digital Channel 7.2 (Time Warner Basic Cable Channel 23 and Digital Channel 372) at 7:00 p.m. as the Dragons host the Great Lakes Loons.

Sponsors of Dragons telecasts include Texas Roadhouse, Friendship Village, John Morrell Food Group, Drake Heating and Air, Bathroom Alternatives, Greater Ohio Virtual School, Dave & Busters, DP&L, IUE-CWA, and Smoothie King.

McCoy has covered the Reds since 1972. He served as the Reds beat writer for the Dayton Daily News through the 2009 season, covering three World Series champions. He currently works for FOX Sports Ohio, writes a regular blog called The Real McCoy, and appears in print every Sunday with his popular "Ask Hal" column. In 2002, he was honored as the winner of the J.G. Taylor Spink Award by the Baseball Hall-of-Fame for " for meritorious contributions to baseball writing." McCoy has won 43 Ohio and national writing awards and was the first non-Cincinnati newsperson elected to the Cincinnati Journalists Hall of Fame. McCoy has been the Cincinnati Baseball Writers Association of America Chapter Chair 22 times and was the BBWAA national president in 1997.

The Dragons will televise 25 games from Fifth Third Field this season. Dragons Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations Tom Nichols handles the play-by-play on all telecasts, which are produced by the Dragons' in-house production crew.
