Kyle Pereira named Top University Student

The Ontario Hockey League has announced that Kyle Pereira has been awarded the Roger Neilson Memorial Award, which is presented annually to the league's top post secondary student athlete.

Kyle is the second Storm player to receive this award, following Tim Priamo who received the honor in 2009.

"We are extremely proud of Kyle," said Storm General Manager Mike Kelly. "He is a superb example of what we consider a true Storm player to be combining success in education with his hockey abilities."

Pereira was also awarded the Mike Kelly Humanitarian Award presented by the Guelph Storm, and was co-recipient of the Co-operators Community Hero award who he shares with Storm defenceman Stephen Gaskin.

Guelph Storm Summer Hockey Camp!

The Storm will be holding their annual Skills Development hockey camp this summer starting Monday, August 20th at the Sleeman Centre. Junior and senior players will take part in half day sessions with the juniors beginning at 8:30am and the seniors at 1:00pm.

The Skills Development Camp will again include 3 hours of on-ice instruction and will be directed by Storm Vice President and General Manager Mike Kelly and Assistant Coach Chris Hajt. Joining Kelly and Hajt on the ice will be a minimum of 4 current Storm players per session.

The program will include skating dynamics, individual and team skill development and two instructional scrimmages per day. Goalies will receive specialized training during the first 30 minutes of each session, as well as ongoing instruction during the remaining 2 and ½ hours of on-ice training. The school is open to players 8 to 10 years of age (mornings), and players 11 to 13 years of age (afternoons). Each group is limited to 30 skaters and 4 goalies.

AVAILABILITY UPDATE:

Spots in the 2012 Summer Hockey Camp are filling up fast! To ensure your child will be a part of this great event, please submit your application and payment information to the Storm office as soon as possible.

As of Wednesday May 2, 2012 @ 12:00pm the following spots are still available:

Junior (ages 8-10): 1 Skater Spot; 1 Goalie Spot

Senior (ages 11-13): 15 Skater Spots; 1 Goalie Spot

The cost is $265 per player and $205 per goaltender.

8:00am arrive at Sleeman Centre

8:30am-10:00am on ice

10:00am-10:30am snack break

10:30am-12:00pm on ice

Senior Schedule

12:30pm arrive at Sleeman Centre

1:00pm-2:30pm on ice

2:30pm-3:00pm snack break

3:00pm - 4:30 pm on ice

Please note:

In the event that you cancel your child's camp session, 7 days notice is required for a refund less a $30 Withdrawal Fee.

Should you fail to give 7 days notice, you will be required to pay the full camp fee.

All prices are subject to applicable taxes.
