Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
DUBUQUE, Iowa - Thanks to Fighting Saints presenting sponsor American Trust, the second half of the defending Clark Cup champion's season featured a number of exciting prizes awarded in the 'Winning Edge' contest. The bank and team saved the best for last, however, as American Trust Co-Chairman Charles Schrup drew the entry form of Chad Glouckner of Epworth, to make him the $5,000 Grand Prize winner at Saturday night's game. Fans entered the contest at American Trust branches and Fighting Saints games starting in early March, and continuing into tonight's game - Fan Appreciation Night - during which a plethora of last minute entries were received. All entries received during the contest period were placed in the drum for Schrup to draw from in the second intermission.
The first pair of prizes were awarded in early March, as fans were selected to take a road trip for two to a Fighting Saints away game and to take the ice with the team in the Fighting Saints starting lineup. On Friday, March 9, a lucky winner was chosen to take a pregame locker room visit, hear Head Coach Jim Montgomery's pregame speech, drop the ceremonial first puck, and win tickets to the game. On Thursday, March 15, an entrant won four tickets to a future game, but he or she will only sit in his or her ticketed seat for two of the three periods. The other period will be spent in one of the penalty boxes, offering a vantage point to the game that few people ever get to experience.
On Friday, March 30, an entrant was chosen to win tickets, plus a chance to join the Fighting Saints radio broadcast as an on-air guest. A week later, on April 6, the night's winner received tickets, plus the opportunity to participate in every fan promotion throughout a game from the movie trivia contest to slingshot bowling.
