Des Moines, IA - Jimmy Murray and Casey Bailey each registered a goal and an assist as the Omaha Lancers earned a 4-3 overtime victory over the Des Moines Buccaneers Friday evening in front of 2,450 fans at Buccaneer Arena. With the win, the Lancers improved to 37-19-3 on the year and remain just one standings point behind the Western Conference-leading Lincoln Stars. Omaha has now won eight of its last nine road games and has produced a 12-2-1 record in the team's last 15 games away from the Omaha Civic Auditorium.

Neither side was able to find the back of the net in the opening period despite a combined 20 shots on goal. Omaha goaltender Alex Lyon turned aside all eight Buccaneers shots he faced in period one while Des Moines netminder Jason Kasdorf answered the 12 Lancers shots that came his way in the opening period of play.

Des Moines broke the scoreless deadlock 1:12 into the second period when Luke Voltin fired in a left wing wrist shot for his seventh goal of the season. Nick Seeler and Gasper Kopitar assisted on the even strength goal, which marked just the 23rd time in 59 games this season that the Buccaneers have scored first. Omaha bounced right back and evened the game just 48 seconds later when Max Vallis found Tanner Lane on the back door for Lane's 12th goal of the season. The Lancers grabbed their first lead of the night just under six minutes later when Murray buried a left wing wrister on a two-on-one for his 19th goal of the year. The Lancers doubled their lead just over four minutes later when Bailey found Matt Gaudreau in the slot who made no mistake in one-timing home his eighth goal of the season. Murray earned the secondary assist on the goal earning his team-leading 21st multi-point game of the season.

The Buccaneers evened the contest with a pair of goals just 27 seconds apart in the third period. First, Trent Samuels-Thomas tucked his 15th goal of the season inside the left post 11:51 into the final frame. Then, Anthony Greco buried a right wing one-timer inside the right post for his team-leading 21st goal of the year. Patrick Kirtland and Kopitar assisted on the game-tying tally netted 12:18 into the third period.

The Lancers landed the final strike with a power play opportunity in overtime as Bailey landed his team-leading 27th goal of the season sealing Omaha's 37th victory of the season. The unassisted man-advantage tally came 1:31 into overtime and marked Bailey's fifth game-winning goal of the year.

Lyon earned the victory in goal for the Lancers after 27 saves on 30 Des Moines shots. With the win, Lyon improved to 27-15-3 on the year and has now won three of his last four starts in cage. Meanwhile, Kasdorf suffered the overtime defeat for Des Moines despite 33 saves on 37 Lancers shots.

The Lancers are back in action tomorrow evening when they return to the Omaha Civic Auditorium for a showdown with the Sioux City Musketeers and the team's final game of the 2011-2012 regular season.
