
Oil Kings Remain First Overall

Medicine Hat, AB - Laurent Brossoit posted a 36 save performance as the Oil Kings took a tough 4-2 road win over the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday night. The win extended the Oil Kings current win streak to ten games as they remain a point ahead of the Tri City Americans for first place in the WHL overall standings.
Edmonton gave up the first goal to fall behind 1-0 but the Tigers lead would not last as Captain Mark Pysyk would tally off a feed from Michael St. Croix just two minutes later. St.Croix now has 102 points on the year and 59 assists, tying Dylan Wruck for the modern era regular season record. Henrik Samuelsson would then score the go ahead goal as the Oil Kings carried a 2-1 lead into the break.
Rookies Curtis Lazar and Martin Gernat added the other goals for the Oil Kings while Stephane Legault would post a pair of assists in the win. Tiger's 60-goal scorer Emerson Etem added his 61st with four seconds remaining to make it a 4-2 final in favor of the Kings. The Oil Kings held a potent Tigers power play to 0 for 8 on the night while improving their road record to 20-10-2-3.
The race for the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy will come down to the Oil Kings final game tomorrow as they take on the Red Deer Rebels. An Edmonton win or a regulation loss by Tri Cities to Spokane would clinch the WHL regular season title for the Oil Kings. The Scotty Munro Memorial is awarded to the WHL's regular season champions. Game time is set for 7:30 in Red Deer tune into Team 1260 for all the action!
Oil Kings playoff tickets are on sale now. The Eastern Conference Quarterfinal match up against a to be determined opponent will start Friday March 23, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Game 2 is Sunday March 25, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. The first 1500 fans to Game 1 will receive a FREE Oil Kings jersey. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Advance ticket prices in the first round of the playoffs will remain the same as the regular season. 'Day of Game' pricing will be in effect so be sure to purchase your tickets early and save.
