Abbotsford Heat News Release

Abbotsford, BC - The Abbotsford Heat will shoot for their fourth straight home win this afternoon as they host the Texas Stars (Dallas Stars) in their seventh clash of the season. Abbotsford bested the Stars 2-1 on Friday night as Krys Kolanos made his return to the Heat line-up after three and a half weeks with the Calgary Flames, and the Heat moved into fourth spot in the Western Conference.

Danny Taylor is coming off back-to-back wins and three-star selections, having allowed just three goals on 56 shots in the two victories. Taylor made a few huge stops in the dying seconds to preserve Friday's win over the Stars, as they crashed the net with an empty net behind them looking to tie the game. The 28-year-old has lead the Heat to 11 of the Heat's 31 wins, splitting the majority of the starts with Leland Irving who was returned to Abbotsford yesterday from the Calgary Flames. Irving stopped 35 of 38 shots in the Flames 3-2 loss in Anaheim on Friday night.

The immensely tight Western Conference sees the Heat, Chicago Wolves (Vancouver Canucks), San Antonio Rampage (Florida Panthers), Houston Aeros (Minnesota Wild), and Peoria Rivermen (St. Louis Blues) jockeying for playoff positions four through eight. While a trio of other teams are within three points of the final playoff spot. The Heat enter today's game sitting in 4th spot, tied with San Antonio with 67 points and two points up on Chicago while holding a single game in hand on the Rampage.

Today's game can be heard on Country 107.1 FM beginning with the 12:30 PM pre-game show, ahead of 1:00 PM puck-drop. The game can be also heard on Country 107.1's website, theAHL.com and is available via the Rogers Radio App on your wireless device.
