PORTLAND, Ore. - With their first four preseason matches in the books, the Portland Timbers closed their 12-day camp in Carson, Calif., on Thursday with a training session at The Home Depot Center. The team returns to the Rose City, where it will finish out its preseason schedule.

The Timbers played their fourth and final match during their Southern California stay Wednesday, defeating the Chicago Fire 2-0 in an extended 120-minute contest. Midfielder Eric Alexander and forward Jorge Perlaza provided the scoring, with both goals coming off assists from newly signed midfielder Franck Songo'o. Through their first four preseason contests, the Timbers are unbeaten, with a record of 3-0-1 and have outscored opponents 8-1. Six different players have factored into the scoring, including Alexander, Perlaza, Futty Danso, Bright Dike, Jack Jewsbury and James Marcelin.

The club will remain in Portland through the remainder of preseason as it prepares for the upcoming MLS season. The Timbers will play host to a four-team, preseason tournament Feb. 27 through March 4 at JELD-WEN Field, featuring MLS clubs Chivas USA and the San Jose Earthquakes as well as Sweden's AIK. Tickets for the tournament matches are currently available through the JELD-WEN Field box office and Ticketmaster.

Timbers sign Cameroonian midfielder Franck Songo'o

On Thursday, the Timbers announced the signing of Cameroonian midfielder Franck Songo'o ahead of the 2012 MLS campaign. He will be officially added to the club's roster upon the receipt of his P-1 Visa and ITC.

Songo'o, 24, has been in preseason camp with the Timbers as a non-roster player and recorded four assists over the club's four preseason matches during its recent camp in Carson, Calif. Capped by the Cameroon National Team, Songo'o last played for Spanish side Albacete Balompié, S.A.D. during the 2010-11 season. Timbers 2012 single-game tickets go on sale Tuesday, Feb. 28

As part of an exclusive on-sale event at JELD-WEN Field, single-game tickets for the club's 2012 MLS season will go on sale to the public Tuesday, Feb. 28, through the stadium box office from 5-10 p.m.

Si ngle-game tickets for each regular-season home match will be available for purchase exclusively at the JELD-WEN Field box office, located on the KeyBank Plaza at the corner of SW 18th Ave and SW Morrison. During the on-sale event, fans can purchase up to four tickets per game and will be allowed to purchase tickets for up to two games per transaction.

Papa Murphy's and Stumptown Coffee Roasters will provide free pizza and coffee samples for fans. JELD-WEN Windows & Doors will distribute JELD-WEN/The Home Depot gift cards to the first and final 100 fans that purchase single-game tickets that night. Additionally, the JELD-WEN Showroom at the stadium will be open and fans are invited to stop by during their visit to JELD-WEN Field.

Starting Wednesday, Feb. 29, at 10 a.m., individual-game tickets will go on sale through Ticketmaster and fans will be able to purchase tickets through the stadium box office, local Ticketmaster locations, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at (800) 745-3000.

Tickets for Timbers' preseason tournament currently available

The Timbers play host to a four-team preseason tournament at JELD-WEN Field from Feb. 27 through March 4. Tickets for the tournament games are currently available through the JELD-WEN Field box office, Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at (800) 745-3000.

The tournament will consist of three doubleheader sessions, featuring the host Timbers, MLS sides the San Jose Earthquakes and Chivas USA and Swedish club AIK in a round-robin format. Tickets for the doubleheader sessions start at $10. Click here for more information about the tournament.

Timbers Owner/President Merritt Paulson honored as Oregon's Sportsperson of the Year

Timbers Owner/President Merritt Paulson was awarded the Slats Gill Award for Sportsperson of the Year as part of the 60th Oregon Sports Awards on Feb. 12. He was one of several Oregon athletes, coaches and sports executives honored at the annual awards show in Beaverton, Ore.

The Sportsperson of the Year, an award named after legendary Oregon State coach and administrator Slats Gill, is given to an outstanding coach, administrator or organization from an Oregon-based team at any level of competition during the calendar year. Named to Sports Business Journal's exclusive "Forty Under 40" class of 2011, Paulson's diligent efforts - an arduous process that began in 2008 - to bring a second major league sports franchise to Portland and to transform JELD-WEN Field into one of the most intimate sports venues in the country came to life during the Timbers' inaugural MLS season in 2011.

Timbers U-23s unveil their 2012 PDL schedule

The Portland Timbers U-23s, the development team for the Timbers, have unveiled their 2012 Premier Development League (PDL) schedule. The team opens its fourth PDL campaign Friday, May 11, as they play host to the Fraser Valley Mariners at JELD-WEN Field.

In 2012, the Timbers U-23s will play a 16-game, regular-season schedule against Northwest Division opponents. Highlighting the team's home schedule are the third-annual Health & Fitness School Days, presented by Providence Health & Services, at JELD-WEN Field. In addition, the Timbers U-23s will compete in their first Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup tournament in 2012, set to enter in the first round as one of 16 automatic qualifiers from the PDL. Details regarding the Timbers U-23s' participation in the U.S. Open Cup will be announced at a later date.

Women's replica Rose City red jerseys now available in team store, online

By popular demand, the Timbers and adidas collaborated on a women's replica kit of the Timbers Rose City red jersey. The new item is currently available at the adidas Timbers Team Store at JELD-WEN Field or online at shop.portlandtimbers.com .

The adidas Timbers Team Store is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Timbers' Stand Together programs gearing up for 2012 season

With a mission to harness the power of sport to improve the lives of children and families in the region through targeted programs, deep partnerships, and philanthropic giving, the Timbers' Stand Together community programs are gearing up for another season in 2012.

The Timbers' weekly radio talk show, "Talk Timbers," presented by JELD-WEN Windows & Doors, airs each week on 750 AM The Game. The show will provide team news and the latest information from around MLS as the 2012 season approaches.
