
Oil Kings Avenge Loss in a Big Way

Prince George, BC - Rhett Rachinski tallied his first career hat trick and Laurent Brossoit posted a record tying performance as the Oil Kings took a 5-0 win over the Cougars on Saturday night. Brossoit, the Oil Kings goaltender and Calgary Flames draft pick made 24 saves to record his club record tying third shutout of the year. The shutout ties him with Alex Archibald and Torrie Jung for the modern day franchise record for shutouts in a season. It was the fourth of his career as Brossoit continues his breakout season with 32 wins, another Oil Kings modern day franchise record.
Rachinski tallied the first hat trick of his WHL career including a highlight reel shorthanded goal for his third of the night. Jordan Peddle and Keegan Lowe each had three assists with Lowe going plus-5 on the night. Kristians Pelss and Henrik Samuelsson scored the other Oil Kings goals in the victory.
The Edmonton power play was 0 for 4 on the night while holding the Cougars to 0 for 3 with the man advantage. Edmonton has not allowed a power play goal in their last three games. The Kings sit alone atop the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 37-12-3-4 for 81 points.
Next week will see the Oil Kings in another huge match up as they walk into the home of the Western Conference leading Kamloops Blazers on Tuesday. Edmonton will then round out their road trip with games in Kelowna on Wednesday and Friday in Vancouver.
