Bulldogs Hang on to Defeat Toronto

HAMILTON, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs successfully defended a 2-1 first period lead to defeat the Toronto Marlies in front of 5,029 fans at Copps Coliseum.

Hamilton's Alexander Avtsin opened scoring with his sixth of the season just 59 seconds into the game. Toronto tied the score at one on a power play double-deflection in front of Peter Delmas' net. Marcel Mueller was credited with the game-tying goal at 7:17 of the first period. The Bulldogs regained the lead with 57 seconds left in the opening period, when Andreas Engqvist scored his team-leading 13th goal of the season, one-timing a behind-the-back pass from Garrett Stafford past Marlies netminder Ben Scrivens.

The Hamilton Bulldogs next game is scheduled for Wednesday, January 18th at 7:30 p.m. when they will host the Milwaukee Admirals at Copps Coliseum in their final game before the 2012 AHL Outdoor Classic, presented by Molson and Boston Pizza. The Hamilton Bulldogs will host the Toronto Marlies at Ivor Wynne Stadium on Saturday, January 21st at 1:00 p.m.
