Eldridge Leads Jam Past D-Fenders

BAKERSFIELD, December 16, 2011 - Osiris Eldridge scored an NBA Development League season high 52 points as the Bakersfield Jam (6-2) defeated the Los Angeles D-Fenders (7-4) by a score of 117-112 tonight. With the win, the Jam move to the first place in the Western Conference and hold the best record in the league.

With the game that included 22 lead changes and 13 ties coming down to the wire, Eldridge connected on a long three pointer to put the Jam up 114-112 with 13.7 seconds left in the game. Orien Greene missed a three on the other end and the D-Fenders were forced to foul with 6.7 seconds on the clock. Eldridge made the first free throw and missed the second, but Juan Pattillo was there for the offensive board. Los Angeles sent Eldridge back to the line where he converted both foul shots with 1.6 seconds remaining. Under good defensive pressure, the D-Fenders could not get a final shot off.

David Palmer recorded his fourth straight double-double for the Jam with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Pattillo almost reached a double-double as well, tallying 14 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Mustapha Farrakhan scored all of his 14 points in the second half tonight, continuing his streak of double digit scoring in every game this season.

Brandon Costner led Los Angeles in scoring with 36 points on the night. In his first game with the D-Fenders, Greene finished with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Eniel Polynice added 19 points and a game-high 9 assists.

The two teams square off again tomorrow evening in Los Angeles at the Toyota Sports Center, tip-off 6:30 p.m.
