Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact announced Tuesday the nomination of Adam Rotchstein as the club's physical preparation coach.
Rotchstein joins a coaching staff that includes head coach Jesse Marsch, assistant coaches Mike Sorber and Mauro Biello, and goalkeeper coach Preston Burpo.
Rotchstein holds a M.A in Sports Management and a B.S. in Exercise Physiology from East Carolina University.
In the past two years, while employed with Athletes' Performance (AP), he was the physical preparation coach for the Polish National Team and Turkish first division club Galatasaray Spor Kulübü. He has also worked with Mexican first division club Santos Laguna and with the United States Men's National Soccer Team.
Previously, Rotchstein was the physical preparation coach for Chivas USA, in Major League Soccer, in 2009 and 2010.
Rotchstein was assistant strength coach with Arizona State University, between 2007 and 2009. In 2006 and 2007, he was the assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Carolina Panthers (NFL).
"The role of physical preparation coach is very important, but difficult in MLS due to the high physical demands in this league," said Jesse Marsch. "His experiences with Chivas USA, the Polish National Team and Galatasaray, allowed him to gain important knowledge on high level soccer players and on the rigour of our sport. In collaboration with our medical staff, we know that Adam will help our team stay healthy, strong and fit."
On another note, the Impact will be unveiling its new team jersey for the club's inaugural season in MLS, as part of a major event set at the Montreal Science Centre this Thursday night.
