COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Tuesday, November 29, 2011) - The Colorado Rapids will begin the 2012 MLS regular season on March 10, 2012 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, with time and opponent still to be announced. The Rapids' complete 2012 schedule will be released in the near future.

Colorado kicks off their 17th season in Major League Soccer at home for only the fifth time. After starting 10 of the first 11 seasons on the road (0-9-2), the Rapids are 4-1-0 in the past five season openers including three straight wins when opening at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The Rapids are 10-2-4 all-time record in home openers and are riding an eight game unbeaten streak (5-0-3).

Previously, the earliest the Rapids opened the season was March 18, 2000 at Los Angeles in a 2-1 loss to the Galaxy. The previous earliest home opener was March 19 of last season, a 3-1 victory over the Portland Timbers.

Major League Soccer's 19 clubs, including the expansion team Montreal Impact, embark on the 2012 regular season under a new competition format. While teams will still play 34 games, 17 at home and 17 away, the Rapids, as part of the Western Conference, will play each West opponent three times and each East opponent once.

Single game tickets for the Rapids' 2012 First Kick will go on sale in early February of next year, while full season ticket packages are on sale now and are available by calling 303-825-GOAL or visiting www.ColoradoRapids.com.
