Musketeers Double up Storm, 6-3

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Extending streaks good and bad, the Tri-City Storm saw a four streaks continue Friday night, as Nick Lappin extended his point streak to six games. Meanwhile, the Storm's 6-3 loss to the Sioux City Musketeers extended the losing streak to five games.

Sioux City (4-8-0, 8 pts - 7th in Western Conference) scored just 5:23 into the first period on C Jordan Boucher-Gould's first of two goals on the night. RW Pontus Johansson would pick up an assist, which was his first point to a four-point game.

Tri-City (3-8-0, 6 pts - 8th in Western Conference) took only 1:35 to answer back, as C Nick Lappin would score his first of two goals from LW Brad Schierhorn and RW Kenny Brooks. The goal also extended Schierhorn and Brooks' point streaks to four games each.

In the second period, the Musketeers would get two goals back-to-back from C Kyle Criscuolo and Johansson. Criscuolo's goal was short-handed from LW Maxim Gaudreault at the 14:37 mark, while Johansson scored 1:43 later.

A little more than two minutes later, the Storm would pull to within one goal on C Tim Bonner's second goal of the season from Soren Jonzzon. The goal was scored on a double deflection off of Bonner's stick and Sioux City defenseman Dan Molenaar's foot into the Musketeers goal.

Tri-City would tie the game 2:48 into the third period on Lappin's second goal of the night and team-leading 10th of the season. Brooks and Schierhorn would earn assists on the goal for the second time in the game.

However, the Musketeers would score three-straight goals to finish off the Storm, as Boucher-Gould, C David Goodwin and D Andy Ryan would score in the third period. Ryan's goal was scored on the power play for his first of the season.

Boucher-Gould would end the game with two goals and two assists, as Johansson had one goal and three assists.

Goalie Pheonix Copley (3-7-0) ended the game with 24 saves on 30 shots in the loss for the Storm, while G Austin Priebe had 19 saves on 22 shots in his first win of the season for Sioux City.

Tri-City went 0-for-3 on the power play, while going 0-for-1 on the penalty kill. The Storm committed a season-low one minor penalty, as Lappin was assessed his first penalty of the season.

The Storm will be in Sioux Falls on Saturday night to play the Stampede. The Breeze 94.5 FM will air the game with the Viaero Wireless Pre-Game Show at 6:45 p.m.

Notes: The Storm are now 2-1-0 against Sioux City. Lappin and Brooks' point streaks tie career-highs, while Schierhorn's is a career-high. Lappin is second in the USHL in goals, only one behind league-leader Kevin Roy (11) from Lincoln. Lappin now has seven points (5g, 2a) in three games against Sioux City, while Brooks has six assists on the season against the Musketeers
