Knoxville Smokies News Release
KODAK, Tenn. - The First Half North Division Champion Tennessee Smokies are playoff bound for the third consecutive season. The 2011 Southern League playoffs are scheduled to begin on Thursday, September 8 at Smokies Park. The best-of-five North Division Championship Series will see the Smokies (first-half North Division champions) face either the second half champions, or the wild card team (determined by the team with the second best overall record). The Chattanooga Lookouts have secured at least a wild card spot and are currently one game ahead of the Smokies for the second half title.
Below are the possible playoff game scenarios:
Scenario #1: The Smokies, who won the first half in the North Division, also win the second half of the North Division. In which case, their opponent is determined by the second best overall record (combined first and second half records). The Lookouts currently have the second best overall record in the North Division, which would give them the wild card selection.

Game #3: Saturday, September 10th @ TBD (Wild Card Winner) Game #4: (if necessary) Sunday, September 11th @ Smokies ParkGame #5: (if necessary) Monday, September 12th @ Smokies Park
Scenario #2: The Lookouts win the second half. The second-half winner (the Lookouts) would play the first-half winner (the Smokies).

Game #2: Friday, September 9th @ Smokies Park at 7:15 p.m.
Game #3: Saturday, September 10th @ TBD (Second Half Champion)Game #4: (if necessary) Sunday, September 11th @ TBD (Second Half Champion) Game #5: (if necessary) Monday, September 12th @ TBD (Second Half Champion)
In the event that the Smokies and Lookouts end the season tied for the second-half lead in the North Division, both teams would play a one-game tie-breaker on Tuesday, September 6th at 7:15 p.m. Smokies Park to determine which scenario will be used. Tickets for the one-game tie-breaker will be $5 each.
The Birmingham Barons and Mobile BayBears will face each other in the Southern League South Division Championship Series. The winners of each Divisional Series will play each other in the Southern League Championship Series, which will also be best-of-five format.
