Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

Eight games to go in 2011! After a postponement last night, the second-place IronPigs (76-60) play a doubleheader* against the fourth-place Syracuse Chiefs (61-71). With a 5-4 win over the Bats on Saturday, the Pigs split the series in Louisville and finished 5-5 on their 10-game road trip. Lehigh Valley has won seven of its last 12 contests, but remains just 34-36 since June 16 -- when they led the North by 5.0 games... The Chiefs -- Washington's top affiliate -- defeated the Red Wings, 4-3, on Saturday to snap a three-game skid and salvage the finale of a three-game home series. Prior to the losing streak, the Chiefs had won five of six affairs and are 12-7 since August 8.

In Game One, RHP Scott Mathieson (2-1, 2.71) will start for LHV against LHP Tom Milone (11-6, 3.33).

In Game Two, RHP Brian Bass (7-9, 4.15) will start for LHV against RHP Brad Peacock (4-1, 3.56).

First-pitch of Game One is at 6:05 p.m.

The Pigs postseason Magic No. is 7 (which would clinch at least a Wild Card tie -- a one-game playoff @ CCP).

*DOUBLE-DIPPER:

The doubleheader tonight is LHV's 7th of 2011 and the first since a split on 8/1 @ SWB... Overall, the Pigs are 5-7 in DH games having slipt the first 3 before getting swept 5/24 vs. GWN... LHV and SYR split a DH, 7/14 at CCP... The Pigs are 13-23 all-time in DH games... they've only swept 2 of 18 all-time DHs (6/11/08 vs. BUF; 7/18/09 vs. ROC).
