Durham, NC - Mauro Gomez went 3-3 with both of Gwinnett's RBI as the Braves hung on to beat the Bulls, 2-1 on Monday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Bulls now lead the Braves by 2.5 games in the IL South Division.
Gwinnett got on the board in the first inning on Gomez's RBI single scoring Ruben Gotay to make it 1-0, Braves. The Bulls answered in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Leslie Anderson scored on a passed ball by J.C. Boscan. Gwinnett got another RBI single by Gomez in the sixth inning again scoring Gotay to make it 2-1 Braves.
RHP Todd Redmond (10-8) picked up the victory pitching six innings and allowing one run on six hits while striking out nine. LHP Alex Torres (9-7) took the loss, though did manage to set the Bulls' Triple-A record for strikeouts in a season with his 146th.
