July 31, 2011 - Pioneer League (PL)
Idaho Falls Chukars News Release

The Idaho Falls Chukars started the second half of the Pioneer League season the same way they ended the first, with a 13-6 win over the Ogden Raptors thanks to a nine run 5th inning at Melaleuca Field.

The Sunday afternoon contest actually started off as a pitcher's duel, with Chukars hurler Brian Peacock and Raptors pitcher Jose Dominguez each holding the opposition to just one run through 4 1=8E2 innings. In the bottom of the fifth however, the Chukars erupted for nine runs on five hits to blow open the game and take a 10-1 lead.

The nine run outburst saw 15 Chukars batters come to the plate to face three different Ogden pitchers. All nine Idaho Falls hitters reached base at least once in the frame and five different men drove in a run. The big blast of the inning came from the bases loaded, 3-RBI triple from designated Henry Moreno. Moreno would finish the night 4-5 with two doubles, a triple, three RBI and three runs scored.

Also having a big night for the Chukars offense, which scored another run in the sixth and two in the eighth, was center fielder Runey Davis who went 2-3 with two RBI and shortstop Adrian Martinez who went 3-4 at the dish with two runs scored and an RBI.

Peacock (2-3) would earn the win for Idaho Falls after holding the potent Ogden offense to just an unearned run over five innings pitched. The southpaw gave up just two hits and a walk while striking out six. Dominguez (0-2) would take the loss for Ogden after allowing six runs on seven hits in just 4.2 innings.

With the win the Chukars complete the three game sweep of the Raptors and move to 1-0 to start the second half of the Pioneer League season, with the first half champion Raptors falling to 0-1. The Chukars will now host the Casper Ghosts for a brief two-game set starting Monday night at 7:15 p.m.
