PEORIA, Ill. - The TinCaps outlasted the Peoria Chiefs, 4-3, Saturday at O'Brien Field to pick up a series-opening victory. B.J. Guinn's bloop single in the top of the 13th chased home the go-ahead run and RHP Chris Franklin held on for the save.

It was a pitchers' duel early between Fort Wayne RHP Dennis O'Grady and Peoria LHP Eric Jokisch. The TinCaps broke the scoreless tie in the fifth when Chris Bisson smacked a single through the middle to score Emmanuel Quiles. Two batters later, Wes Cunningham lifted a double to the gap in left-center to make it 2-0.

Bisson led off the seventh with a triple, then scored on Cunningham's sacrifice fly to give Fort Wayne a 3-0 lead.

O'Grady faced the minimum through five innings and carried a shutout through six. In the seventh, Richard Jones and Micah Gibbs roped back-to-back doubles and Taiwan Easterling followed with his first professional home run to tie the game at 3-3.

It stayed tied for the next five innings as each team squandered chances. With the bases loaded and one out in the eighth, Peoria's Anthony Giansanti caught a fly ball and threw Luis Domoromo out at the plate to end the rally.

In the bottom of the 12th, the Chiefs had runners at second and third with nobody out, but RHP Adam Dominick struck out back-to-back hitters and induced an inning ending groundout to escape the jam.

Fort Wayne plated the go-ahead run in the next half-inning. Connor Powers slashed a leadoff double to right. Pinch runner Cory Spangenberg went to third on a passed ball and scored when Guinn lifted a fly ball down the left-field line which dropped for an RBI single. The Chiefs loaded the bases in the bottom of the 13th but failed to score.

Dominick (3-6) was the winner and Franklin notched his third save. Peoria RHP P.J. Francescon (0-2) took the loss.

The TinCaps improved to 10-12 in the half, 40-51 for the season. The Chiefs fell to 9-13 since the all-star break, 42-50 for the year.

The TinCaps and Chiefs (Class-A Chicago Cubs) continue the three-game series at 2:00 p.m. ET. Fort Wayne LHP Todd Privett (0-0) starts against Chiefs RHP Luis Liria (0-0).
