Former Tennessee Tech Standout Stephen Pryor Joins Generals

ZEBULON, NC. (JULY 15, 2011 - The Jackson Generals have made the following roster moves prior to tonight's 6:15 pm CDT game against the Carolina Mudcats at Five County Stadium. LHP Mauricio Robles has been promoted to Triple-A Tacoma and RHP Stephen Pryor has been activated from A+ High Desert.

ROBLES, 22 made 2 starts for Jackson, the last coming in the opener of this series on Wednesday, working five scoreless innings. In those 2 starts Robles was 0-1, with a 4.15 ERA. He was activated from the 60-day disabled list on June 13th and optioned to High Desert. Robles had surgery on March 22, in Seattle, to remove loose bodies from his left elbow. The arthroscopic surgery was performed by Mariners Medical Director Dr. Edward Khalfayan. With High Desert, Robles was 0-2, with a 12.41 ERA in 4 starts (12.1IP/17ER). Robles struck out 9 and walked 11 in those starts. Robles joins Generals' Tom Wilhelmsen and Johermyn Chavez who are on the Mariners 40-man roster. During Major League Spring Training Robles made one appearance in an "A" game (March 8 at San Fran) and was optioned to AAA Tacoma on March 12.

PRYOR, 21 returns to his home state of Tennessee where he played his high school baseball at Friendship Christian in Mt. Juliet, TN and college baseball at Cleveland St. CC and Tennessee Tech University. Stephen was drafted out of Tennessee Tech by the Mariners in 2010, in the 5th round. Pryor joins the Generals from A+ High Desert where he was 1-0, with a 7.67 ERA in 22 relief appearances. In 27 innings Pryor struck out 34 and walked 26. Pryor pitched in two games during the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Championships at Pringles Park.
