HOOVER, Ala. - The Florida Marlins have announced a pair of transactions that affects their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's game against the Birmingham Barons at Regions Park.

Right-handed relief pitcher Corey Madden has been transferred from the Suns to Triple-A New Orleans. Madden, who saw action in two games with the Zephyrs earlier this month, made 25 relief appearances with the Suns going 2-1 with a 2.72 ERA in 43 innings on the mound in 2011.

In a corresponding move, left-handed relief pitcher Ramon Benjamin (pronounced Ben-HA-meen) has been transferred from High-A Jupiter to Jacksonville. Benjamin has pitched in 27 games for the Hammerheads this season, going 5-1 with a 3.29 ERA in 41 innings on the mound. Benjamin, a native of the Dominican Republic, was signed by the Marlins as a non-drafted free agent in 2006.

The Suns roster now stands at 24 plus two for major league rehab, and a revised roster is attached.

The Suns and Barons will play the third game of the six-game series on Friday night at Regions Park. Left-hander Jose Alvarez (0-1, 4.50 ERA) will pitch for Jacksonville against Birmingham's right-hander Nevin Griffith (5-5, 6.10 ERA. Friday's first pitch is set for 8:05 p.m., and fans can listen to the game beginning at 7:50 p.m. with the U.F. & Shands Pregame Show on www.jaxsuns.com.
