DURHAM, NC - Brandon Laird and Austin Krum each drove in four runs as the Yankees beat the Bulls 14-3, Friday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Yankees pounded out 22 hits, the most allowed by the Bulls pitching staff this season.
The Yankees did all of their damage in the first five innings against Brian Baker (5-5) and Ryan Reid. Baker went four innings allowing eight hits and seven runs, while walking four and striking out three. Reid went just one inning and allowed eight hits and seven earned runs.
Leslie Anderson got the first hit of the game for the Bulls in the bottom of the fourth belting a two-run home run off of Yankees starter Lance Pendleton (2-2), to cut the lead to 7-2. Robinson Chirinos would add a lead off home run in the eighth inning for the Bulls. Chirinos has hit in his last ten games for the Bulls.
Durham will continue thier four game series with Scranton Wilkes-Barre on Saturday June 25 at 7:05 p.m. at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Bulls will send Chris Bootcheck (3-1) to the mound against Scranton's Adam Warren (6-2). The game can be heard on 620 the Buzz, and tickets are available at www.durhambulls.com.
