Riversharks Sign Two Former Major League Players

CAMDEN, NJ - The Riversharks have announced the signings of right-handed pitcher Josh Towers and second baseman Danny Richar to the 2011 roster. Towers and Richar combined have eleven seasons of Major League experience.

Towers, 34, was originally drafted in the 15th round by the Baltimore Orioles in 1996. Towers went 8-10 in his rookie season and posted a 4.49 ERA. He played with the Toronto Blue Jays for the majority of his Major League career. Towers had his best season in 2005 in Toronto, posting a career-high of 13 wins with a 3.71 ERA. "Josh is a solid player," said Rivershark's Manager Von Hayes. "He's going to start in the bullpen till we get him stretched out and in shape and then we'll add him to the starting rotation."

Danny Richar, made his Major League debut in July 2007 vs. the Toronto Blue Jays. In 2008 Richar was traded to the Cincinati Reds for Ken Griffey Jr., and stayed in the Major Leagues until 2009. From 2007 to 2009 he was hitting a combined .229 with 6 home runs and 18 RBIs between the two clubs. "He's a solid infielder who has played short stop and second base." Said Von Hayes, "He'll come in for our short stop position to help us out and make us a better team."
