Salem, VA (May 3, 2011) - As has often been the case during Salem's torrid start to 2011, the Red Sox' greatest adversary, Mother Nature, halted an early rally and suspended Tuesday's action at LewisGale Field. Scoreless in the bottom of the first inning, Salem had runners on first and second when heavy rains arrived, prompting the umpires to call for the tarp and eventually end baseball for the evening.

Tuesday's ballgame will be resumed on Wednesday morning at 11 AM, and the Red Sox and Indians will complete the nine-inning tilt in its entirety. Rather than play a doubleheader on Wednesday, the originally scheduled game will be pushed back to June 13 in Kinston, where the Sox and K-Tribe will duel in a twin-bill.

At 17-6, the Salem Sox own the top record in the Carolina League and are tied for the second-best mark in all of minor league baseball. The longest homestand of the season continues through Sunday, as the Red Sox will host the 16-9 Myrtle Beach Pelicans for a four-game series beginning on Thursday night, part of Pink In the Park weekend at LewisGale Field.
