Portland, Maine- Alex Wilson and Jeremy Kehrt combined on two hit shutout Tuesday night as the Sea Dogs defeated the Trenton Thunder 7-0. The Sea Dogs bats provided the thunder at Hadlock Field banging out seven runs on 12 hits before a crowd of 3,225 as the Sea Dogs improved to 3-3 on the season. Trenton dropped to 3-3.

Wilson (2-0) gave the Sea Dogs their first quality start of the 2011 season tossing six shutout innings, holding the Thunder bats to two hits earning his second win of the season. He struck five, walked a batter, and hit a batter lowering his ERA to 2.45.

Kehrt relieved Wilson in the seventh and earned a three inning save, his first of the year, tossing three no hit innings yielding only a walk.

The Sea Dogs offense exploded for five runs in the fourth inning; after singles from Chih-Hsien Chiang and Will Middlebrooks, Oscar Tejeda delivered a RBI double scoring Chiang to give the Sea Dogs a 1-0 lead. Jon Hee would follow with a two run double making it 3-0 Portland. Alex Hassan would add a RBI double and Jorge Padron chipped-in with a RBI single to cap off the five run inning.

The five run inning chased Trenton starter Steve Garrison (0-1) from the game after 3.1 innings surrendering five runs on eight hits, suffering the loss.

The Portland offense struck again in the sixth. Hee led off with a walk and Mitch Dening collected his first hit of the season, a RBI double. Hassan delivered a RBI single scoring Hee making it 6-0 Portland. Tim Federowicz grounded out scoring Hassan to complete the scoring. Federowicz has driven-in a run in every game he has appeared in this season.

Every Portland starter collected at least one hit. Hassan was 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored, he has hit safely in all six games this season and is hitting .500 (12-for-24).

The Portland Sea Dogs and Trenton Thunder will conclude the series Wednesday night at 6:00 PM at Hadlock Field. Right-handed pitcher Brock Huntzinger (0-1) is scheduled to start for the Sea Dogs. Trenton will send lefty Shaeffer Hall to the mound (0-0).
