Philadelphia Union News Release
Chester, Pa. (February 14, 2011) - Philadelphia Union announced today that the club has waived midfielder Eduardo "Chacho" Coudet. The Argentinean was acquired by the Union through a free transfer from Argentinean First Division side Club Atlético Coln on July 22, 2010.
The former River Plate player made his first appearance with the Union as a trialist in an international friendly against Celtic FC on July 14, registering an assist on Sebastien Le Toux's game-winning goal. A week later, Coudet stepped back on the pitch in a Union kit for 45 minutes when the MLS expansion team faced Manchester United in their second international friendly of the month. After officially signing on July 22, Coudet started nine games for the Union, with his last appearance coming against the Columbus Crew on October 24, 2010.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Coudet has played in some of the world's most recognizable leagues, including Argentina's First Division (Atlético Platense, 1993-95; Rosario Central, 1995-98, 2006; San Lorenzo, 1998-99, 2004-05; River Plate, 1999-04 and Club Atlético Coln, 2010), the Spanish First Division La Liga (Celta de Vigo, 2002), and the Mexican First Division (San Luis, 2007-09; Necaxa, 2009). A long ball specialist with strong possession skills, "Chacho" spent the majority of his career in Argentina, amassing 56 goals in 400 games.
