Huntsville Havoc News Release
HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc won two of three games over the weekend with a 4-2 win at Columbus on Thursday and a 4-1 win over Louisiana at home on Friday before falling at home to Pensacola 5-2 on Saturday.
Thursday, December 16 - Huntsville 4, Columbus 2
COLUMBUS, GA - The Huntsville Havoc fell behind 2-0 before scoring four straight goals on their way to a 4-2 win over the Columbus Cottonmouths Thursday night.
Columbus jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on goals by a first period goal by Matt Kinnunen and an early second period goal by Jordan Braid.
Stephen Margeson cut the lead to 2-1 with 5:51 to go in the second period and Shaun Arvai tied the game at 2-2 with a powerplay goal with 2:52 left.
Margeson gave the Havoc their first lead with 3:31 to go in the game when scored an even-strenght goal with assists from Mike Carter and Adam Knopp. Ray Ortiz added an empty net goal with :38 left to seal the win.
Mark Sibbald made 31 saves in the win, while Andrew Loewen made 23 in the loss.
The game started two hours late after the Havoc bus broke down in Birmingham. The team made it to the arena at 9:00 est and game started around 9:30.
Friday, December 16 - Louisiana 1, Huntsville 4
HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc scored four goals in the second period on their way to 4-1 rout of the Louisiana Ice Gators Friday night.
Mike Carter scored with 13:41 left in the period to break a 0-0 tie. Ray Ortiz added his seventh goal of the season with 11:08 left and Kamil Vavra scored just :32 later to make the score 3-0.
The Ice Gators managed to scored even quicker as Nick Vandebeld scored :26 later to cut the lead to 3-1.
The Havoc answered quickly as Ryan Kretzer scored on a penalty shot with 9:34 to go in the period.
A total of five goals were scored in the game and they all came in a span of 4:00 in the second period.
Mark Sibbald made 22 saves to pick up his sixth win of the season. Scott Darling made 28 in the loss.
Saturday, December 17 - Pensacola 5, Huntsville 2
HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Pensacola Ice Flyers came into Huntsville and skated past the Havoc with a 5-2 win Saturday night.
Kyle Crawford, Eric Stoyanovich, Brett Liscomb, Brett Parker and Tanner Schultz all scored one goal each for Pensacola.
Omar Pacha and Ryan Kretzer scored for the Havoc
Ryan Scott made 21 saves in the win while Dan McWhinney made 28 in the loss.
