Nailers Announce New Class A Affiliation

Wheeling Nailers News Release

WHEELING, WV – The Wheeling Nailers, the ‘AA' affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, are pleased to announce an affiliation agreement with the New York Aviators hockey club. The Aviators operate out of Brooklyn, New York, and are members of the Federal Hockey League.

The affiliation will allow the Nailers to call-up players from the Aviators on an as needed basis, as well as send players to the Aviators to assist in player development.

"We are excited about our affiliation with the Aviators", said Nailers V.P. Craig Bommer. "It will provide us the opportunity to call-up players when the roster gets short, while at the same time allowing us to send players down to develop specific areas of their game."

The Aviators play in the six-team Federal Hockey League, which is currently in its inaugural season. The FHL is dedicated to the growth of professional hockey at the Class A level and creating a developmental ground for elite hockey players, coaches and front office staff as well.

The Nailers continue their homestand on Thursday vs. Trenton (7:05 p.m.), and Friday vs. Kalamazoo (7:35 p.m.). To purchase tickets call 304-234-GOAL, or 877-NAIL-Tix. Fans don't forget to bring items to the game to donate to Toys for Tots.
