Stingrays Receive Mahbod from Elmira

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Cail MacLean announced today that the team has acquired forward Samson Mahbod from the Elmira Jackals in exchange for future considerations.

Mahbod, 21, appeared in nine games with the Jackals scoring two goals and four assists for six points. Currently in his first professional season, the Montreal, PQ native spent the past five years in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Last season, the 5-foot-9, 165-pound right wing dressed in 52 games with Prince Edward Island Rocket and led the team with 64 points (20g, 44a). During the 2008-09 campaign, Mahbod netted a career-best 30 goals and 49 assists for 79 points in 66 games with the Drummondville Voltigeurs and skated in 19 postseason contests burying 13 points (5g, 8a) helping the Voltigeurs claim the league championship before falling in the semifinals of the Memorial Cup.

The Stingrays travel to The Arena at Gwinnett Center to battle the Gwinnett Gladiators on Friday, December 3 at 7:35 p.m. Tune in to Fox Sports 1450 for all the action. Celebrate the Stingrays' annual Teddy Bear Toss with Debi's Kids on Saturday, December 4 at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum against the Greenville Road Warriors.
