Lethbridge, AB - Despite a very busy season, the Lethbridge Hurricanes will continue to put their time to good use with a number of upcoming community events and appearances already planned for the next few weeks. Please find the list of events below and contact Ryan Ohashi, Communications and Events for further inquiry.

Hurricanes Positive Role Model Program

Select Hurricanes players will be working with school resource officers and Hurricane Education Advisor Jim Stewart in a new Positive Role Model program at Lethbridge area schools; emphasizing the importance of strong life choices and the avoidance of drugs and alcohol. Hurricanes veterans will be on hand on Monday, November 15th at Nicholas Sheran School (380 Laval Blvd.) at 11:30 AM and Tuesday, November 16th at Westminster Elementary (402-18th st. N.) at 10:30 AM for presentations and floor hockey!

Old Timers Hockey Challenge

The Oldtimers' Hockey Challenge taking place 7:00pm, Monday, November 15th at the Nicholas Sheran Ice Arena. Hockey Hall of Famers Glenn Anderson and Bryan Trottier will be joined by Hurricanes GM Rich Preston, Thomas Steen, Bobby Bourne, Dave Ellett, Warren Skorodenski & Jimmy Mann as they take on the Lethbridge Regional Police Hockey Team. The Oldtimers' Hockey Challenge is designed to give fans and players alike an opportunity to celebrate a common joy of the game while at the same time giving much needed funds to worthy organizations. A portion of the proceeds from each ticket will go to the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation. Pink in the Rink Photo Opportunity

Don't miss out on your chance to get a first glimpse at the Hurricane Pink in the Rink Jerseys as the Hurricanes along with the representatives of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and the CIBC Run for the Cure show off the 2010 jersey. Monday, November 15th at 12:30 PM prior to practice - These jerseys will be worn then sold via silent auction as part of the Hurricanes Pink in the Rink event on Nov. 19th and 20th.

2010 Pink in the Rink Event

The 2nd Annual Hurricanes Pink in the Rink event is set to take place on November 19th and 20th as the Canes play host to Prince Albert and Saskatoon. This event will once again serve as an opportunity to raise awareness about breast cancer as well as funds for the Lethbridge chapter of the CIBC Run for The Cure in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. With the help of community-minded businesses as well as the fans, players and staff of the Lethbridge Hurricanes the organization once again hopes to raise funding and awareness for this great cause. This weekend-long event will kick off on the 19th with the Canes Friday night matchup with the Raiders before ending the following night (November 20th) in the Canes Saturday night match up with the Blades. On both of these nights, everyone in attendance is encouraged to wear pink to support and recognize all those that are fighting the disease, those taken from us, as well as those amazing individuals who are survivors and family members of survivors.

The Hurricanes themselves will be wearing specially designed pink jerseys that will be auctioned off in a silent auction format, ending at the conclusion of the second game. Proceeds from the jerseys will support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Along with the proceeds from the jersey auction, funds will also be raised through the intermission promotions and donations.

Operation Christmas Child

The Lethbridge Hurricanes will be kicking off the holiday season with one of their annual holiday community events. Monday, November 22nd at 1100 AM all of the Hurricanes veterans will be lending a hand at the University Drive Alliance Church. (55 Columbia Blvd. West) The University Drive Alliance Church is the regional collection centre for Operation Christmas Child in Southern Alberta. This program encourages children and adults to pack shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items and school supplies to be given to children living in impoverished areas all over the world.
