Thunder Announces Promotions for 2010-11

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder announced its 2010-11 promotional schedule on Friday.

All 33 Thunder home games this season will be played at the INTRUST Bank Arena, beginning with Opening Night on Saturday, October 16th, presented by Verizon Wireless, Baker University, and KAKE-TV. Fans will get their first look at new Head Coach Kevin McClelland as the Thunder battles longtime rival Tulsa. Prior to the opening faceoff, the Thunder will honor its greatest player with a retirement ceremony for Jason Duda, now the team's Assistant Coach.

The defending Southern Conference champion Allen Americans visit Wichita on Friday, October 29th for Wichita State University Night. The Thunder will take the ice in special Wichita State sweaters with an auction to follow the game. Reduced-priced tickets are available for wearing Shocker gear. The first 5,000 fans into the arena also receive a 2010-11 Thunder poster schedule, courtesy of Kansas One Call, EMC Insurance Companies, 360 Wichita, AT&T Real Yellow Pages, and 107.3 The Brew.

If you can't make the poster schedule giveaway, the first 5,000 fans to either the Thunder's October 29th game versus Rio Grande Valley or October 30th game versus Tulsa receive a 2010-11 magnet schedule, courtesy of Great Clips, Green Lantern Car Wash, O'Reilly Auto Parts, and KFDI.

The Thunder hosts its first annual College Fair Night on Friday, November 12th, presented by Channel 963. A variety of colleges from the state and surrounding areas will be on hand to answer questions while Wichita plays host to Missouri.

Wichita's annual Toys-for-Tots promotion is on Saturday, November 27th versus Colorado. Fans can bring any new or unwrapped toy to the Thunder office and receive buy-one, get-one tickets to watch Coach McClelland take on his former team.

Friday, December 3rd is Guaranteed Fight Night and Ozzy Osbourne's Birthday Bash, presented by Dignity Memorial and T-95. If no one drops the gloves that night against Colorado, all fans in attendance can purchase tickets for just $2.00 when the Thunder hosts the three-time IHL champion Fort Wayne Komets on December 10th. Friday, December 10th is also Ladies Night, presented by B-Tan Tanning Company and Channel 963.

The annual Teddy Bear Toss returns Saturday, December 11th, courtesy of Bank of the West and KFDI. Fans can throw their bears onto the ice following the Thunder's first goal against the Tulsa Oilers. All teddy bears will be donated to charity.

For the first time in Thunder history, fans have the opportunity to choose the night's promotion with Fans Choose Night on Friday, January 7th, presented by 104.5 The Fox. Fans can vote on several different promotional options from December 1st-24th by visiting the Thunder's website.

Sonic Thunderdog celebrates his 18th birthday on Saturday, January 8th when the Thunder hosts new foe Bloomington. Special Thunderdog-themed jerseys will be auctioned off after the game, courtesy of Sonic Drive-In, Kissin 102.1, and B98.

Fans can strike the jackpot on Saturday, January 15th on Powerball Ticket Night. For every adult at least 18 years of age, $1.00 from every Thunder ticket will be used towards purchasing lottery tickets. Every fan who registers wins a cut of the pot. Adults must register at the designated areas the night of the game.

Saturday, February 12th is the Thunder's fourth annual Pink at the Rink event, presented by AT&T Real Yellow Pages, Salon Knotty, and KFDI. A jersey auction will follow the game to benefit the American Cancer Society.

Youth Jersey Night returns on Friday, March 11th, courtesy of Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Blockbuster Video, and 105.3 The Buzz. The first 1,000 fans 12 and under receive a free youth Thunder jersey while the Thunder faces the Mississippi RiverKings.

Throughout the season, fans can meet and greet their favorite Thunder players at post game party events, courtesy of Emerson Biggins West (located at 21st and Maize) and Applebee's (Maple and Ridge location). College students can take advantage of five Student ID Nights, presented by America's Pub. Discounted tickets are available by presenting a college ID at the following games: Saturday, October 30th versus Tulsa Wednesday, November 24th versus Mississippi Friday, December 17th versus Tulsa Friday, January 14th versus Texas Friday, February 18th versus Mississippi

Tickets for the October 8th exhibition game are just $10.00 General Admission. The Thunder opens the 2010-11 regular season on Friday, October 15th against the Tulsa Oilers at the BOK Center. Wichita hosts Tulsa the following night at the INTRUST Bank Arena for their 2010 home opener. Tickets are on sale now for all 33 Thunder home games.
