AVON, Ohio - The Lake Erie Crushers equaled their longest win streak of the season and assured themselves of a winning season with a 5-3 victory over the Kalamazoo Kings on Saturday night at All Pro Freight Stadium in front of 3,454 fans.

Both starting pitchers were in control early. Lake Erie starter Josh Roberts faced the minimum through his first five innings in his final start of the season. The Crushers opened the offense in the bottom of the fourth against Kalamazoo starter Jimmy Stanley. Wayne Bond led off with a single, stole second, and scored on a two-out double from Joel Collins.

Lake Erie added to the edge in the fifth. Jodam Rivera led off with a walk, stole second, and scored on an RBI single from Casey McGrew. Kalamazoo trimmed the lead to 2-1 with a sixth-inning tally. J.J. Sferra's double with two outs plated Jeff Helps.

The Crushers busted the game open with three runs in the seventh, all coming with two outs. Arden McWilliams sparked the rally with an infield single before Casey McGrew and Dom Duggan walked on eight total pitches to load the bases. Reliever Micah Spencer entered and forced in a run by walking Wayne Bond. Andrew Davis battled through a lengthy at bat before singling home a pair on the ninth pitch of his plate appearance to stretch the lead to 5-1.

Kalamazoo was able to place the tying run on base in the ninth after scoring two runs, but J.J. Pacella secured his team leading ninth save of the season to end the game. All but one member of the lineup reached base in the contest.

Tomorrow night is the final game of the 2010 schedule. First pitch is at 5:05 p.m. for Fan Appreciation Night. RHP Matt Smith (9-7, 3.95) will receive the start in the final game with Kalamazoo countering with RHP Joe DiPietro (6-10, 6.20).
