Regina, Saskatchewan - As preseason games go, it was an entertaining affair 24 hours ago. The Regina Pats got goals from Hampus Gustafsson, Brandon Davidson, Dane Muench, Carter Ashton and Ty McLean en route to a 5-2 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors. There was a ton of hits, great goals, and Andrew Rieder showing some moxy by dropping the mitts with Warriors tough guy, Dylan McIlrath.
The two look to do it again tonight, 7pm, at the Moose Jaw Civic Centre.
In The Line-up: Last night, the Blue and White had a trio of 2010 WHL Bantam Draft picks in the line-up. Tonight. there will be more of the same with defencemen Kyle Burroughs and Colby Williams as well as forward Ty McLean taking to the "Crushed Can" ice.
2010 Draft Class: The Regina Pats now have their top four picks from the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft inked to Western Hockey League Standard Player Agreements. In June, 1st rounder, Morgan Klimchuk signed his deal, while 3rd rounder Kyle Burroughs, 4th rounder, Colby Williams and 5th rounder, Ty McLean all signed this weekend
NHL Camps: This weekend will be the first, and last, preseason action for 5 Regina Pat players as they will head off next week to their NHL camps: Carter Ashton (Tampa Bay), Jordan Weal (Los Angeles), Garrett Mitchell (Washington), Brandon Davidson (Edmonton), and Ricard Blidstrand (Philadelphia).
Adding a "20": On Wednesday, the Regina Pats made a deal to pick up another 20 year old forward acquiring Colin Reddin from the Prince Albert Raiders in exchange for a conditional 2012 WHL Bantam Draft pick. Reddin joins Cass Mappin as one of the two Pat 20 year olds, with room for one more to hit the WHL maximum of 3.
Preseason Schedule: The Pats will play the Brandon Wheat Kings in back to back preseason action next weekend. The first game goes Friday night at the Brandt Centre at 7pm and the action can be heard on 620 CKRM with Dan Plaster and Al Dumba, beginning with the pre-game show at 6:35. Pick up your tickets now by heading to the Ticketmaster box office in the east entrance of the Brandt Centre.
