Giants Lose in Kelowna

The Vancouver Giants fall to 0-2 in the pre-season after a 2-1 loss to Kelowna on Saturday night. Tyler Matheson scored the game winner 8:49 in to the third period. Rockets keeper Chase Martin stopped all 15 shots in faced after replacing Jordan Cooke half way through the game.

Vancouver opened the scoring on the power play. Jordan Martinook picked up his 2nd of the exhibition season on the 5-on-3 advantage, to give the Giants a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.

In the 2nd period, the Rockets evened the score as Mackenzie Johnston found the back of the net.

Brendan Jensen was solid in goal for Vancouver making 29 saves on the night.

The exhibition schedule continues next Friday when the Giants play host to the Chilliwack Bruins at the Ladner Leisure Centre. Game time is 7:30pm.
