
Mitch Blackburn arrives from Arkansas; Young-Il Jung to DL

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that INF Mitch Blackburn has been assigned to the Kernels from the Arkansas Travelers and that RHP Young-Il Jung has been placed on the 7-day DL with a left ankle sprain. Abe Flores, Director of Player Development for the LA Angels, announced the move on Saturday.
The Angels signed Blackburn as a 2010 non-drafted free agent out of San Diego State. He played seven games at Arkansas and 14 games with the AZL Angles. At Tempe, he hit .204 with 5 RBI.
Jung made 19 relief appearances for the Kernels with a 2-1 record and 4.37 ERA. In 22.2 IP, he allowed 12 hits and 12 runs (11 earned) with 22 walks and 23 strikeouts.
Blackburn will join the Kernels in Beloit and be available for tonight's 7:00 pm game with the Snappers. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster remains at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with four players currently on the disabled list.
The Kernels begin a three game road trip tonight in Beloit at 7:00 pm and you can enjoy all the action on the radio home of Kernels baseball, 1450 KMRY AM. Fans may listen on-line at www.kmryradio.com, or www.kernels.com .
The Kernels host game two in the first round of the MWL Playoffs on Thursday, September 9th at 6:35 pm against the MWL second half wild card team. Tickets may be purchased on-line at www.kernels.com, or by calling the Kernels Ticket Office at 896-7560. Ticket office hours are 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, and 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday.
